A Mobilife Competence Hub _Strategy Development

Building Amobilife Competence Hub - Strategy Development Workshop Glasgow

The Strategy Development Working Group: Sitevisit at SPTs My Bus Station

In a series of presentations and workshops, delegates from Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the UK reviewed progress so far in the project and agreed on plans for the implementation of a trans-national 'competence hub' to draw together ideas and examples of best practice.

To provide real alternatives to car use for the 'first and last miles' of journeys, the project focuses on a number of themes including:

a)   improving the scheduling and delivery of door-to-door transport

b)   improving the quality of public transport information, booking and connections

c)    providing travel training to those unaccustomed to public transport.

ICMA recognises that, to compete seriously with private car use, public transport connections must be made attractive in terms of their price, their ease of use and their demand-responsiveness. The transnational partnership plans to make its added competences and experiences available for mobility providers and municipalities through a joint best practice and service platform form next year onwards.
